Composer, Arranger & Musical Director

I graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2010 with my M. Mus Degree in ‘Performance & Dissertation…so I have the academic chops!

I’ve been a gigging musician for nearly two decades and have played in every possible scenario, with the exception of an actual circus, imaginable. I have played in MANY bands (Big Band, Orchestra, Trio, Duo, etc) in varying genres (Funk, Reggae, Jazz, Afro-Cuban, World) in varying applications (Concerts, Workshops, Tours, Theatre Runs, etc) and have gained a wealth of knowledge around the composition of music, it’s musical setting, applications and, mostly, how to work with other people to get the best possible results!

I have done countless arrangements for nearly every format of musical ensemble and setting imaginable including horn and string arrangements for Big Band, School Band, String Quartet, etc. for:

  • The Settlers High School
  • Wynberg Boys High School
  • Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Festival
  • Hannepoot Big Band
  • Highly Strung (String Quartet)

I have uploaded some examples of my formal arrangements at Score Exchange.

I have written original compositions for artists such as Heinrich Frans, Chad Saaiman, Monique Hellenberg, etc while also doing work on ‘Library Albums’ for publishers/labels like African Cream Publishing and Mama Dance Records. I produced a song entitled Feel So Funky for their album Feel Good Funk – From Joburg to LA was used by the international clothing company Woolrich for their advertising of the launch of their Milan store in 2019.

I have been the Musical Director (MD) for artists such as Sarah Theron & Sonja Heroldt . I have been the MD/Arranger (and sometimes performer!) in spectacular theatre productions such as ‘Video Killed The Radio Star’, ‘The Show Must Go On’ (Queen Tribute), ‘All You Need Is Love’ (Beatles Tribute) and ‘Kings Queens & Divas’ which were produced along my longtime friend and director Cedric Vandenschrik  for Wide-eyed Productions.
